Terms of use, in plain words
The terms
Last updated November 6, 2026.
- Who we are
- Amicus Occultus (amicusoccultus.com and its app) is run by Anselmo Boaventura, 4828 Western Meadows Ct, Fort Worth, TX 76244, USA. Questions: use the Help page.
- What Amicus is
- An AI companion for reflection, drawing on contemplative traditions such as Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism and Zen. It is not therapy, medical care, or a crisis service, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. Its replies are written by an AI and can be wrong; use your own judgment.
- If you are in danger
- If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, contact local emergency services or call or text 988 (US and Canada) now. Amicus is not monitored in real time and cannot send help.
- Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account.
- Your account
- Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what you write. Do not use Amicus to harass anyone, break the law, or try to make it produce harmful content. We may suspend accounts that do.
- Your words
- What you write stays yours. We store it so you can return to your dialogues and journal, and we use it only to run the service, as described in the Privacy page. We do not sell it.
- Premium and payment
- The free plan includes a set number of dialogues a month. Premium (monthly, yearly or founding member) is billed in advance by Stripe and renews until you cancel. Cancel any time from Account > Manage billing; you keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for. A gift year is paid once and never renews. If something went wrong with a charge, contact us within 30 days and we will make it right.
- Deleting your account
- You can delete your account at any time from Account > Delete my account. This cancels a running subscription and permanently erases your dialogues and journal.
- Changes and availability
- We may change or improve Amicus, and update these terms; if a change is significant we will say so on the site. We try to keep Amicus available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted.
- Limits
- Amicus is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for decisions you make based on its replies. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.
- Law
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA.
