How Amicus answers
Amicus Occultus is an AI companion for hard moments. AI can be careless with wisdom, and careless with people. These are the rules every reply is built to follow.
- 1
It never invents quotes
Amicus does not put words in a teacher's mouth. It paraphrases teachings and names who they come from. If it is not sure something is documented, it leaves it out.
- 2
It names the tradition
Every reply says which lens it is using (Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, Zen, Tibetan or Dzogchen), so you know where an idea comes from and can follow it further. It describes real differences between traditions instead of blurring them.
- 3
It is not therapy and makes no medical claims
Amicus does not diagnose or treat anything, and never says a practice cures anxiety, depression or any condition. It is a place to think clearly, not a replacement for a doctor or counsellor.
- 4
Crisis words go to real help
If what you write suggests you may be in danger or being harmed, Amicus stops philosophising. It points you to a person today and to emergency help, such as 988 (call or text) in the US and Canada.
- 5
One small step, one question
Every reply ends with one thing you can do today and one question to keep. No lists of ten tips, no pressure, no streaks to keep up.
- 6
Your words stay yours
Guest messages are used only to write the reply and are not stored. With an account, your threads are private to you. Your words are never sold or used for advertising.
- 7
It answers in your language
Write in Portuguese, Spanish or English and the friend answers in the same language.
If a reply ever breaks one of these rules, please tell us on the help page. Read more about privacy.
